SCS provides a strong academic curriculum in a Christ-centered environment. In addition to academics, our children are able to find and develop their skills in art and music classes. We have very loving and supportive parents, students and faculty members.

What makes Summit Christian School a special place to teach?
We have a Godly principal with a huge servant's heart, who prays diligently for her staff, students and parents. We have a Godly board that also prays constantly for God's wisdom before making any decision, always seeking to better our school. We have a group of teachers whose hearts' desire is to do God's will in teaching His children. The love they have for their students is quite obvious. We have parents who have committed themselves to giving their children a Christian education no matter what the sacrifice. We have the right to pray and seek God's will about all situations with students as well as with parents and staff.

*Special days with Corduroy, Clifford, and Curious George.
*Fall field trips to apple orchard and pumpkin farm
*Camp-in at McKinley Museum where the children and parents are invited to sleep overnight at the museum

What makes Summit Christian School a special place to teach?
We have the opportunity to teach from God's perspective versus the world's perspective. We are able to teach the children to apply God's truths in their daily lives together with the goal of attaining high academics as shown by our IOWA test scores. We are well supplied with teaching materials and also supportive parents and volunteers. We have a unified, caring staff and experienced principal who offer prayer support for various challenges. Our new facility offers a fun playground for the children, including a great venue for sled riding.

Highlights:
*Field trips to Schwebel's Bakery, Kirtland Farms, Magic Theatre, Akron Zoo
*Annual Thanksgiving drama and fairy tale plays
*Bob Fulton reading unit, including races with boats made by the students
*Math unit allows students to create and maintain their own store
*Socials studies unit allows students to collectively create a city
*Science unit encourages students to create a working light, sound instruments, and creating their own "Ooblek" recipe.

We have a principal with a servant's heart who desires to honor Christ. We have a school board who is willing to give of their time and energy to make our school a better place. We have a staff that desires to have a growing working relationship with Christ and have a lasting impact on the lives of their students. We have a Bible-based curriculum that challenges the students and equips them to do well. We have parents who take an interest in their children, support our staff, and invest their time in our school. Most of all, we have a God who is willing and able to take the weak, feeble things we do and turn them into something eternal.

I am so blessed to have the opportunity to teach at SCS!  The staff, students, and families are so wonderful.  I love to come to school every morning and see so many smiling faces.  I am honored that God has placed me here to mentor, to teach academics and to teach His holy Word.  Praise God, He is good!

This is a learning environment where God is put first. This is not only so with the students, but it is evident in the staff, volunteers, parents and our board. It is a caring community; in many ways, we are like a family who offers encouragement and support to all who enter our doors. This is never more evident than when we see the faces of our graduates who return for a visit. It is exciting to know that our labor is not in vain, and that with God we have the opportunity to make a difference in young people's lives.

We've been promised in God's Word that where two or more are gathered in His name, He will be with us. He has been invited into every class. He is our guide as we determine how to reach each student with his/her special needs and abilities. At SCS, we are an interdisciplinary team. Our school concerts are not just music related. They incorporate art in the set design and costuming, sometimes history or language in the subject matter, and computers in the program design

If you want to see servanthood modeled, SCS is the place. It begins at the top and there is a definite trickle-down effect. I continue to be amazed and inspired by the willingness to serve demonstrated by each staff member. Where a need is made known, it will be met graciously.
