F.Y.I

May 26, 2010

Good-bye for the summer!

It is unbelievable that our school year is concluding. In many ways it seems that we have only been working together for a few months. Since this is the last F.Y.I of the year, we want to wish you all a restful and safe summer. Share and enjoy time with family and friends. We hope to see you all again in the fall.

Staff Changes

Many of you probably have heard that we are losing two wonderful staff members. Mrs. Kristyn May is moving back to Georgia where her husband has been recalled to work on the railroad. Mr. May worked with Mr. Deveney in church planting, and we were blessed to have Mrs. May as our kindergarten teacher. God allowed her to be with us just a short while, but we will always be grateful for the quality of teacher she has been to our children. We wish her and her family God's blessings!! We sadly let her go with our sincere thanks.

Secondly, after twenty years of wonderful service at SCS, Mrs. Nancy Hopkins is retiring.  Twenty of the twenty-eight year history of SCS, Mrs. Hopkins has worked to teach her students to do the best work they could do in their studies. During this time, Mrs. Hopkins has always taught her children to love drama. Unique plays written by her became a fall and spring regular. Her creative ideas were the delight of 2nd graders -- creation of cities to learn social studies, boat races to learn about Robert Fulton and scientific inventions, and stores to sell items while learning the value of money. Mrs. Hopkins looks forward to spending time with her husband, Don, and her many children and grandchildren. We thank Mrs. Hopkins for her years of dedication and service!!

Update on Mrs. Cox

Some of you may know that our eighth grade teacher, Mrs. Cox, had a total knee replacement this past month.   Unfortunately, we recently found out that her husband must undergo surgery today. As a result, both of them will be unable to drive for several months. Please join us in praying for them and consider how you might be able to minister to them either through prayer or service.
